The show is about a rookie police officer who is pursuing law enforcement as a second career, and as such, is significantly older than his colleagues. A significant portion of the main cast is Black, as well as at least one Asian and one Latina woman. One of the other rookies is gay. The cast is very balanced between the binary genders, but there is no one outside them.
