Based on the true story of the group Lesbians and Gay Support the Miners, which was formed in London in 1984 to support the National Union of Mineworkers, who were on strike. The group chooses a small Welsh village to support, but they initially aren’t keen on getting money from an LGBT-based group. While there is homophobia, it is not overwhelming or unrealistic, and the film is mostly hopeful. One of the characters is HIV-positive. Overall, it is a film about class solidarity with entertaining and engaging characters that was a joy to watch.
